Vladivostok State Medical University (VSMU) was founded in 1958 as the Vladivostok Medical Institute by a resolution of the RSFSR Council of Ministers. The university underwent several name changes, becoming Vladivostok State Medical University in 1995, and since 2013, it has been officially recognized as the State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Vladivostok State Medical University" under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
The university operates under the management of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, and it is a federal state budget educational institution. VSMU is licensed to conduct educational activities and has state accreditation, offering degrees in various medical and health-related fields.
